Lucknow, Sep 06, 2025: A shocking incident of assault has come to light from Amity University, Lucknow, where a second-year BA LLB student, Shikhar Mukesh Kesarwani, was reportedly slapped “50–60 times” by his classmates inside a vehicle in the university parking lot. The incident, which took place last month, has gone viral on social media, raising concerns over student safety on campus.

According to reports, the assault occurred on August 26 when Shikhar arrived at the campus with his friend, Soumya Singh Yadav, to attend classes. The reason behind the attack is yet to be clarified, and Amity University had not issued any statement at the time of filing this report.

The victim’s father, Mukesh Kesarwani, filed a complaint that led to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against five students: Ayush Yadav, Jahnvi Mishra, Milay Banerjee, Vivek Singh, and Aryaman Shukla. Mukesh said the incident left his son traumatised, especially since Shikhar had recently undergone ligament surgery on August 11 and was still walking with the aid of a stick. As a result, the student has stopped attending classes.

Describing the incident, Mukesh said that his son was picked up by Soumya Singh Yadav at Hanhemann Chauraha and, upon reaching the university parking lot, was approached by the accused students who asked him to discuss some matter. Shikhar was then allegedly verbally abused and threatened for about 45 minutes. Jahnvi Mishra and Ayush Yadav reportedly slapped him repeatedly, hurled abuses, and threatened both Shikhar and his family.

Vivek Singh and Milay Banerjee, according to the father, recorded the assault and circulated the video on campus. They also reportedly broke Shikhar’s phone and warned his father not to visit the college, threatening similar violence. The complainant has demanded strict action against the accused.

The viral 101-second video shows Shikhar seated in the back of a car while a female student, in the front passenger seat, continuously slaps him on his left cheek. Each time he attempts to shield himself, she demands, “Haath neeche” (put your hand down). A male student, identified as Ayush, can be seen delivering a blow to Shikhar’s right cheek while hurling abuses and issuing threats.

Throughout the video, the female student repeatedly questions Shikhar about his comments on “character” and continues slapping him. Ayush instructs another accused, Aryaman, to hold Shikhar’s left hand while the slapping continues. Only after at least two friends intervene, asking Ayush to stop, does the assault appear to subside.

This disturbing incident has raised questions about campus safety and the handling of conflicts among students at Amity University, Lucknow. The FIR and viral video have sparked outrage among the student community and the public, urging authorities to take immediate action.
