Mira Road | September 6, 2025 : The Mira Road Police have uncovered a massive drug manufacturing syndicate operating in Telangana, seizing raw MD drugs worth Rs 12,000 crore and arresting 13 individuals in connection with the case. The bust comes after a multi-stage investigation that revealed a highly organized operation with extensive national and international links.

Police said the investigation began when a small haul of 200 grams of drugs was intercepted. As officers delved deeper, they discovered a larger network involved in manufacturing and distributing MD drugs. The investigation eventually led them to a factory in Telangana, where 32,000 litres of raw MD drugs were seized.

Discovery of the Syndicate

The factory was found to be operating on a highly organized scale, using modern machinery and special chemicals to produce MD drugs. The operation reportedly had a wide supply and distribution network, both within India and abroad, making it challenging for authorities to trace the origins and flow of the narcotics.

According to police officials, the syndicate’s sophistication suggests that the operation was run by experienced masterminds who coordinated production, storage, and distribution with precision. Authorities believe the gang had been active for some time before being detected and were supplying drugs across multiple states.

Arrests and Seizures

So far, 13 individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. Officers seized large quantities of chemicals and finished drugs, along with machinery used in the manufacturing process. The arrests include both factory workers and key operatives who were responsible for organizing production and distribution.

Earlier, the Mira Bhayandar Police had conducted a separate operation where around 15 kg of cocaine, valued at Rs 22 crore, was seized, leading to the arrest of three individuals, including two foreign nationals. This earlier bust is believed to be linked to the same syndicate.

Investigation Underway

Authorities have launched a detailed probe into the network’s operations, tracing its supply chains, financial transactions, and international connections. Police are examining the factory’s logistics, procurement of raw materials, and the roles of those arrested to dismantle the syndicate completely.

Officials said the scale of the operation indicates that the syndicate had been functioning with minimal disruption due to its well-planned distribution network. Modern machinery and chemicals allowed the group to produce MD drugs in large volumes, increasing both profit margins and the risk to public health.

The Mira Road Police emphasized that cracking such a large syndicate requires meticulous coordination between different departments and jurisdictions. Investigators are now working with authorities in Telangana and other states to identify additional operatives, financiers, and suppliers connected to the drug ring.

National and International Links

Sources indicate that the syndicate’s reach extended beyond India, with preliminary findings suggesting connections with overseas distributors. The authorities are working with international agencies to track shipments and financial transactions tied to the network.

Officials also warned that such syndicates not only fuel criminal activity but also endanger communities through the proliferation of synthetic drugs. The police have assured the public that they will continue to pursue leads aggressively to prevent further operations of this nature.

Public Safety and Awareness

The Mira Road Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to drug manufacturing or distribution. They have also highlighted the need for public awareness about the dangers of synthetic drugs like MD, which can have severe health and social consequences.

“This bust is a significant step in curbing the illegal drug trade,” said a senior police officer. “We are committed to dismantling all networks operating in the region, both at a local and international level.”

The seizure of Rs 12,000 crore worth of MD drugs from the Telangana factory marks one of the largest drug busts in recent years. With 13 arrests already made, the investigation is expected to reveal further details about the syndicate’s operations, including its national and international distribution channels. Police continue to work closely with other state and international agencies to ensure that those responsible face the full force of the law.

The operation underscores the growing challenge posed by synthetic drug syndicates in India and the importance of coordinated law enforcement efforts to tackle them. Authorities have vowed to continue their crackdown to protect public health and safety while ensuring that justice is served against those behind this large-scale drug manufacturing operation.
