Meerut, Sep 06, 2025: Fear has gripped women in Daurala, Meerut, following reports of a so-called “nude gang” attempting to drag women into deserted areas. This marks the fourth such incident reported in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district, prompting police to launch investigations and increase surveillance using drones and CCTV cameras.
The latest incident involved two men allegedly attempting to abduct a woman while she was traveling alone to her workplace in Bharaala village. The woman screamed and managed to escape, drawing nearby villagers to the scene. However, the suspects had vanished before anyone could apprehend them. The victim described the men as completely naked, sparking alarm among local residents.
The woman’s husband told NDTV that she has now changed her job and altered her route to work due to fear. Villagers revealed that earlier cases went unreported because victims feared social stigma. Rajendra Kumar, the village chief, said, “Villagers initially did not take it seriously. But now there is an atmosphere of fear. This gang has so far targeted only women.”
Police have responded by conducting search operations in the affected areas. Last Saturday, senior officials supervised drone-assisted searches of fields for several hours. CCTV cameras have been installed in nearby locations to monitor activity, and women police officers have been deployed to enhance security.
Senior Superintendent of Police Vipin Tada, who personally inspected the area, said, “We combed the area with drones and the help of villagers but did not find any suspects. A search is ongoing, and we are taking every precaution to ensure safety.”
While the alleged “nude gang” has caused some families to remain indoors and avoid certain routes, some locals believe the reports could be exaggerated or orchestrated by mischievous elements attempting to damage the police’s image. Nevertheless, authorities are taking the complaints seriously to reassure residents and prevent further panic.
As investigations continue, the police have urged residents, especially women, to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. Community cooperation, enhanced patrolling, and technological surveillance are being used to restore a sense of safety in Daurala and surrounding villages.
