मुंबई : Mumbai | July 28, 2025 : Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor has once again inspired fans by opening up about his incredible weight loss journey. From weighing 140 kg as a teenager to losing over 50 kg before his Bollywood debut in 2012, Arjun’s story is one of hard work, patience, and self-discipline.
Speaking to the Times of India, the Two States and Ishaqzaade actor revealed that his transformation took 15 months of consistent effort, where he stuck to a simple rule: “Keep moving and eat clean.” He said,
“Even when I was overweight as a kid, I believed there’s nothing better than walking. Even today, when I want to lose weight, I just get out and walk.”
Walking Over Everything
While many rely on intense gym workouts, Arjun emphasized that walking played a big role in his fitness journey. He made sure he stayed active throughout the day and avoided long hours of sitting. “You can’t expect results if you sit on your couch, eat junk, and then complain about not losing weight,” he added.
Saying Goodbye to Junk Food
A self-confessed foodie, Arjun had to let go of unhealthy eating habits. He stopped eating junk food, sugary snacks, and high-carb meals. Instead, he began eating more fresh fruits, vegetables, and high-protein foods. He also practiced portion control and avoided emotional or mindless eating.
According to reports, Arjun’s daily routine includes:
Breakfast: Eggs or other high-protein foods
Lunch (around 1:30 pm): A Greek souvlaki wrap
Evening snack: Turkey sushi
Dinner: Turkish kebabs with muhammara sauce, mint chutney, and pickled vegetables
He also does a mix of weight training, circuit workouts, CrossFit, and cardio exercises—twice a day on many occasions.
Battling a Health Condition
In 2024, Arjun revealed that he was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid gland, slows down metabolism, and makes weight loss even harder. His mother and sister also have the same condition.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, he said,
“It’s almost like I can take a flight and gain weight. My body goes into fight-or-flight mode. I defied the diagnosis and kept pushing myself.”
He also shared that he underwent therapy for mild depression, especially during years when his films weren’t doing well and his health was a constant struggle. “It was not just physical stress—it was emotional, too,” he said.
Still a Work in Progress
Even after shedding over 50 kg, Arjun says his fitness journey isn’t over. “It’s still a work in progress,” he told TOI. He’s committed to staying healthy, not just for the screen, but for his own well-being. |
