Tiger Shroff’s much-awaited action entertainer Baaghi 4 is making headlines ahead of its release — not just for its jaw-dropping stunts but also for its clash with the censor board. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared the movie with an ‘A’ certificate, but only after enforcing a series of edits and cuts.

23 Cuts Ordered by CBFC

Certified on August 26, the film was subjected to 23 cuts by the Examining Committee. These included both visual and audio changes. Scenes depicting extreme violence were modified or removed, such as throats being slit, skulls pierced with swords, hands chopped, and an 11-second gory sequence that was deleted entirely.

Symbolic visuals also came under scrutiny. Shots like Tiger standing on a coffin, a cigarette being lit from a niranjan diya, and another lit from an amputated hand were removed. A frontal nude sequence was covered, while controversial depictions involving a statue of Jesus Christ were also cut.

The audio was no exception. Expletives such as bhang b**a, b*e, and fingering were muted or replaced, while even the word condom was silenced. Some dialogues, including the line “Woh bhi darta hai mujhse”, were deleted.

After these mandatory edits, Baaghi 4 was cleared at a run time of 163.50 minutes (2h 43m 50s).

Voluntary Cuts by Makers

Interestingly, the producers returned to the CBFC just three days later, on August 29, to implement voluntary cuts. They trimmed about 19 scenes, shortening the movie by nearly 6 minutes 45 seconds, bringing the final run time to 157.05 minutes (2h 37m 5s).

This move aligns Baaghi 4 with other big-budget projects like War 2 and The Bengal Files, which also opted for additional self-censorship even after clearance.

Setting the Stage for Release

Despite the heavy cuts, anticipation for Baaghi 4 remains sky-high. The franchise, known for its adrenaline-pumping action and Tiger Shroff’s daredevil stunts, has built a loyal fan base since its inception. With its worldwide release slated for September 5, fans are eager to see how the trimmed version balances raw action with CBFC’s sensitivities.

While the debate around censorship versus creative freedom continues, one thing is clear — Baaghi 4 is set to make a thunderous impact at the box office, cuts or no cuts.
