Dehradun, Uttarakhand | July 1, 2025 : Uttarakhand has taken a major step toward promoting science and space education by organizing a national-level Space Conference 2025 in Dehradun. The event was held in collaboration with ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) and brought together teachers, scientists, and students from across the country.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of science, technology, and innovation in shaping the future of India. He said that science and space education should start from the school level and continue to higher education. He shared his vision of making Uttarakhand a leader in STEM education—which includes Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
The Chief Minister stressed that the state government is committed to building a strong science culture. He called for better coordination between schools, universities, and science centers so that young minds can be inspired and guided to work on new ideas. He said, “Our aim is to make students think not just about today, but also about the future.”
One of the highlights of the conference was the presence of ISRO scientists, who gave lectures on India’s current and future space missions. They spoke about the country's growing role in space technology and shared exciting news about a possible Indian space station by 2030. This caught the attention of many students and teachers, who asked questions and shared their thoughts.
The conference featured hands-on displays such as model satellites, live data analysis tools, and interactive learning kits. These tools were used to explain how satellites work and how they help in daily life—like in weather prediction, GPS, and communication. Students were especially excited by the models and asked many questions. Some said they were now thinking about careers in space science.
Teachers and educators from across Uttarakhand also participated in workshops and discussions. They shared ways to include topics like astronomy, space technology, and robotics in regular school subjects. There were also sessions on using tools like remote sensing, geo-mapping, and satellite communication for real-world problems such as disaster management and agriculture.
This conference is being seen as a model effort that other Indian states could follow. Experts said that such events prove that science education is not just about books and labs, but about encouraging creativity and real-world thinking.
Participants agreed that the conference made science fun and easy to understand. It also showed that if given the right environment and encouragement, Indian students can become global leaders in space and innovation.
With this initiative, Uttarakhand has shown its commitment to building a strong future through science and education. The state hopes to continue this momentum with more programs, competitions, and science-friendly policies in the coming years.
