Lucknow :
Lucknow, May 24 : In line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision, the Uttar Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board is taking decisive steps to develop the state into a prominent eco-tourism hub.
To further realise the vision, the Board recently announced the launch of the “Buffer Mein Safar” initiative, aimed at preserving natural beauty and biodiversity while offering new safari experiences. Under this plan, a safari track has been developed in the Bhira forest region, and a new safari route has been established in the Mohammadi area for monsoon safaris.
Stakeholder consultations, including meetings with tour operators and local communities, revealed that tourism opportunities were limited to just seven months a year. To address this, the Board initiated the Vistadome Train service, providing tourists with year-round access to Dudhwa National Park. Similarly, the newly developed safari track in Mohammadi will remain open year-round.
In a key decision aimed at improving visitor access, the Board decided that Dudhwa, Katarniaghat, and Kishanpur wildlife sanctuaries will no longer close on the same day. Additionally, swift action is being taken to issue notifications for Eco-Sensitive Zones to enhance conservation efforts.
Director of Tourism, Prakhar Mishra highlighted the Board’s two-fold strategy in Dudhwa raising awareness about forest conservation and integrating local communities into the eco-tourism economy.
Training programs for nature guides are being conducted to provide in-depth knowledge of wildlife and ecosystems. Plans are also underway to showcase local cuisine and crafts, including the famous Tharu Thali, to boost the income of local communities. Training for canteen workers, cooks, and guides will ensure both high-quality service and new employment opportunities.
Local participation is central to the plan, with initiatives to engage the Tharu tribe in tourism activities and encourage the development of homestays. This effort is positioning Uttar Pradesh as a key destination for eco-tourism on both national and international maps.
The Vistadome Train, integrating Dudhwa, Katarniaghat, and Kishanpur sanctuaries, has quickly gained popularity among tourists, with tickets already in high demand. Future plans include adding onboard food services and leveraging advanced technology to provide educational insights into wildlife and forest ecosystems during the journey.
A recent social media campaign featuring influencers highlighted the Vistadome Train experience, showcasing the stunning landscapes and unique design of the coaches. Videos from the campaign have garnered over one million views, reflecting strong public interest.
Tourism and Culture Minister, Jaiveer Singh emphasized that Uttar Pradesh holds vast potential for eco-tourism. With the Eco-Tourism Board’s comprehensive plan, the goal is to transform Dudhwa into an international tourist destination and solidify the state’s position on the global eco-tourism map.
