Dehradun :
Harsil-Uttarkashi, March 5 : Harsil-Mukhwa is fully decked up to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is set to visit the region on Thursday to promote winter tourism at the request of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The border district of Uttarkashi is brimming with excitement as locals, who had migrated to lower valleys for the winter, have returned to their native homes to be part of this historic occasion. The recent snowfall has only added to the charm of Harsil valley, turning the cold weather into a warm celebration.
As per the proposed itinerary, Prime Minister Modi will first visit Mukhwa (Mukhimath), the winter abode of River Ganga, to offer prayers at the revered Ganga temple. The entire Mukhwa village, including its ancient structures built in traditional architecture, has been beautifully decorated in anticipation of his arrival.
Following this, at 10:30 AM, the Prime Minister will reach Harsil, where he will inaugurate an exhibition showcasing Uttarakhand’s winter tourism and local products. He will also flag off adventure tourism initiatives, including motorbike and ATV-RTV rallies for Jadung and PDA, as well as trekking expeditions to Janaktal and Mullingla. The picturesque cold desert landscape of the Nelang-Jadung-PDA region has remained largely untouched by tourism activities, but with the Prime Minister launching these new ventures, the region is poised for a major tourism boost.
Additionally, the Prime Minister is scheduled to address a public gathering in Harsil. A grand stage has been set up for the event, and all necessary arrangements have been completed. The district administration, led by DM Dr. Mehraban Singh Bisht and SP Sarita Dobal, has been stationed in Harsil to oversee preparations. A significant number of police and administrative officials from various districts have also been deployed to ensure seamless arrangements. Strict security measures have been put in place, with multiple agencies monitoring the area extensively.
Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, key officials, including Tourism Secretary Sachin Kurve, Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Garhwal Commissioner and CM’s Secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey, DGP Deepam Seth, Additional DGPs Dr. V. Murugesan and A.P. Anshuman, and Information Director General Banshidhar Tiwari, conducted a site inspection in Harsil. DM Dr. Mehraban Singh Bisht confirmed that all preparations are complete and Uttarkashi is fully ready to welcome the Prime Minister.
